On Saturday November 14th, Divide residents were once again treated to the KFOK Fall Fundraiser at the I.O.O.F. Hall. This years fund raising concert featured the Buckboard Bunch Band from Placerville and local favorites Upcountry.
The crowd was a little bit lighter than expected, but overall it was a good turnout and the event considered a general success. Funds raised support daily operations of the station and the upcoming antenna move to Hotchkiss Hill.
Alan Hendricks joined in with Upcountry and played his banjo. He is well known for his hand-crafted, custom made banjos and he is also known throughout the area as one of the best banjo players in NorCal.
A special treat was Juanita Ricci playing her mandolin and belting out the Buckboard Bunch Band’s rendition of the big 1912 hit, “Moonlight Bay”. The amazing Juanita is 93 years young!
As well as first rate entertainment, good food was also to be had. Kathleen Lindsen and family were in charge of the food and boy did they come through! Homemade pulled pork sandwiches was the definite crowd favorite. Vegetable lasagna was also available. A no host bar manned by station volunteers provided the needed libations. It was a real toe tappin good time!
